OUR
PROCESS
so how exactly does this custom design thing work??

Wedding date is booked! When do we need to meet with Amanda Childs Paperie?
Typically, your save the dates should be mailed anywhere from 6 to 8 months prior to your wedding date. If you are interested in save the dates, please contact us about 10 months prior to your wedding. Typically, your invitations should go out 6 to 8 weeks prior to your wedding date. Please schedule your initial meeting with us at about 6 to 8 months prior to your wedding. I say typically because we are flexible! Day of accessories – programs, escort cards, table numbers, menus – should be addressed closer to the wedding date, at about the 2 month mark.
If you are past these timelines and haven’t contacted me yet, that’s okay! That does not mean you are too late, send me an email and we will go from there.

I have ideas but nothing online seems to match…how do we get started?
Amanda Childs Paperie would be pleased to schedule an initial appointment with you to discuss your wedding stationery. If you are local to Baltimore, Maryland, meeting in person works for us. If you are not local have no fear, most of our relationship will be via email so why not start it off there! At this initial meeting, you will have the opportunity to discuss your wedding in detail - see samples of our custom creations, choose your colors, cardstock, envelopes, fonts, and explore other design options you might not have even thought about. We will take the time to answer any questions you may have. Each client and their wedding is unique, that is why at this meeting we like to get a good feel of your vision for the big day, so we can reflect it in our designs for you. Each piece from your save the dates all the way to table numbers should not only reflect each client but their overall theme of the day.

How to I schedule our initial appointment?
Appointments are typically scheduled Monday through Friday and select Saturdays each month. Send me an email so we can schedule time that works best!

I have a budget in mind, how much do Amanda Childs Paperie products cost?
Since all of our work is custom made for each client, pricing does vary based on the style and materials used to create your custom pieces. There are no minimum requirements of quantity nor do you have to order in certain increments! Your initial consultation and preliminary computer generated designs are free of charge. From there Amanda Childs Paperie can give you a rough quote that is broken down by each element. This way you can see just what you are paying for. This gives you the power to pick the options that better suit your budget, or even add that extra ribbon you were holding back on! Once we start the order the contract and final quote will be sent out. A deposit is due half way through the process and the remaining balance is due at the completion of the job.

I need…how do I know what I need?
There are so many styles to choose from we know it can get overwhelming, but that is why we are here! Typically, flat style invitations come with a reply card, reply envelope with return name and address printing and a single mailing envelope with return and guest address printing. If you have a good bit of people from out of town you might want to include a card that lets guest know what their hotel options are. Depending on the formality of your invitation will truly depend on what you will need. We will go over all the options and narrow down what best suits you.

What does the entire process consist of?
At our initial meeting, Amanda Childs Paperie will gather information needed to create first round designs of your invitations. They will then be emailed to you along with an information document that describes the invitation, wording choices, and a detailed timeline. You will review the designs and we will go back and forth via email until you get to your final invitation design. This process can take a few days to a few weeks depending on the number of pieces and what you are looking for. After you finalize your design, you will choose text for your invitation (final wording, response date, meal choices, directions, accommodations, etc.). You will be asked to provide this text to Amanda Childs Paperie by the date provided in the timeline. At this time, Amanda Childs Paperie will email you the quote and contract that reflects your order. You will sign and return the contract with a 50% deposit by the time of proof approval. The first proof will be sent via email for you to check overall design, verbiage, spelling, and correct information (date, time, and address). Once the digital proof is approved, you will receive a printed proof that will be packaged as if your guests would receive it. Expect these a few weeks before your delivery date. We will not print the final set until we receive your final written approval on all items. Then, sit back and let us do the hard work! We will assemble, stuff, stamp, seal, and mail all of your invitations for you! I’ll email you with a final invoice when your invitations are ready to go to the post office.

How long does it take to get my invitations?
Amanda Childs Paperie delivers invitations based on your wedding date. Typically, I like to have the invitations finalized about 10 weeks prior to your wedding date. This gives us a week buffer to take our time. If you are having a destination wedding or need to have the invites in your hands earlier than that time period, that is not a problem! As long as my schedule permits and we are swiftly about emailing back and forth, I’d be happy to provide them to you by an earlier date.
I want to experience it all…can I do the assembly?
While I am compelled to tell you let me do the busy work and take some of the stress off of you so close to the wedding, I cannot stop you from wanting to be even more involved. If you so choose to take it upon your self to assemble them all, I ask you keep in mind it will shorten the design time we have by about 2 weeks. This will ensure the time needed to deliver the invitations to you and time to assemble them!

Can I get letterpress or foil printing?
Yes! If you chose letterpress or foil printing it may need a little more time to ensure complete perfection but it is possible! If you are looking to add a pop of foil on a digital printed invitation, we are proud to announce that can now be done here in our studio!

What else can Amanda Childs Paperie take care of for me?
Where do we even begin!? We can provide: save the dates, wedding invitations, shower invitations, rehearsal dinner invitations, brunch invitations, programs, escort/place cards, table numbers, menus, favors, tags, labels, thank you notes, napkins, candy bags and more. We specialize in weddings, but we also love other specials events such as baby announcements, baby shower invitations, birthday party invitations, anniversary invitations, holiday cards and stationery gifts.
